Description: In this design-focused class, students will learn how to create a personalized foundation paper pieced alphabet based on their own handwriting. Through guided exercises, students will learn core principles of FPP pattern design-such as breaking down complex shapes, avoiding Y-seams, understanding piecing order, and creating sewable templates. They will then translate letters into functional quilt blocks. Through guided exercises, they will simplify curves and angles, plan logical construction sequences, and label and test their patterns. By the end of class, each student will have designed multiple original letter patterns and gained the skills to draft the rest of their alphabet independently, empowering them to create quilts that boldly showcase their voice.
