Class description:
In this hybrid design-and-sewing workshop, students will transform a phrase they want to express into a foundation paper pieced quilt and then bring it to life. Students will learn core principles of FPP pattern design, translating handwritten or typed letterforms into clear, sewable templates. After creating a layout for a small text-based quilt, students will move from drafting to sewing, constructing their own phrase-based design. Emphasis will be placed on scaling, fabric selection for readability, thoughtful layout, and efficient FPP construction techniques. Students will leave not only with a strong understanding of how to design FPP patterns, but also with original letter templates and a quilt that reflects their own voice.
