Conception
Lumos was conceptualized as a discussion piece with Sonder- taking the light and color in that calming curve driven quilt and fracturing it into shards and unexpected angles. American Made Brand fabrics® provided a spectrum of 55 solids that I played with to create the movement in this quilt. As it came together, I was surprised by unexpected moments of luminosity shining through and thus named it Lumos.

Creation

Lumos was designed by hand and on Adobe Illustrator. I printed templates on blueprint paper and used American Made Brand® Cotton Solids by Clothworks for all fabric elements, Warm & Natural batting, and Aurifil thread to piece and quilt. I hand quilted elements using DMC floss.

Lumos will debut at International Quilt Market in 2019. Patterns are available for sale in my shop.
